Registrars

This is a training practice where qualified and often very experienced hospital doctors, who wish to pursue a career in general practice, are trained. Each doctor usually works with us for one year. Occasionally medical students join the practice for a short period as part of their training – if you do not wish them to sit in on consultations, please let the doctor know.

Practice Manager

The Practice Manager organises the day to day running of the practice. If you have any questions about administration or non-medical aspects of your care the Practice Manager will be able to help with your queries. We also employ a deputy Practice Manager who will assist with any queries in the Practice Managers absence.

Reception

We employ a full-time reception manager, deputy reception manager, two part-time medical secretaries, one full-time receptionist and five part-time receptionists. We also employ a postal clerk/notes summariser. All our staff attend ongoing in-house training as well as attending regular training up-dates.

Dispensers

We employ six dispensers, who alternate between our two surgeries. our dispensers manage all prescriptions for dispensing and non-dispensing patients. All dispensers are qualified to NVQ in Pharmacy or NVQ in Dispensary standard.

Community Midwives

The Community Nurse has a wide range of responsibilities and experience in providing general nursing care in the community. The Community Midwife shares responsibility for maternity cases with the doctors, both antenatally and in the first ten days after delivery. Messages can be left with the receptionists for the Community Nurses and the Community Midwives at St Agnes Surgery.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitor is a registered general nurse and midwife who gives advice on health care, especially for young children, expectant mothers, the handicapped and the elderly. She is based at Perranporth and can be contacted on 01872 571212. Clinics are also held at St Agnes and Mount Hawke surgeries.
